Farmers invited to join new grazing group
Posted: Wed, May 22, 2019
Practical Farmers of Iowa is forming new groups about grazing livestock of any kind.
The farmer-led groups will be a way to learn about different production strategies or possible solutions to farming challenges.
There is no cost to join and farmers do not need to be Practical Farmers members.
The first meetings will take place in May and June, each hosted by a farmer, and will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dinner also will be provided. The group will take a pasture walk together and discuss spring grazing management on lush pastures, first-cut hay, planting summer annuals and more.
To sign up, visit the grazing groups page on PFI’s website and click the RSVP button for the specific event of interest.
The Northeast Iowa Grazing Group will meet on June 9 at the Wendy Johnson and Johnny Rafkin farm, 2038 March Ave., Charles City. RSVP by June 6.
After this first meeting, group members will decide how often to meet, which topics to cover and other logistics.
